First Grade Big Cats

First Grade artists studied big cats and their habitats before creating oil pastel drawings. Student focused on creating accurate proportions, working from large details to small and creating value with the oil pastels.Each piece has great personality!

Kinder Value Drawings

Welcome back to CIPLC!

It's great to SEA you!  Everything is starting off swimmingly in the art room! This year students will be working on an ocean theme over the course of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for ocean themed art, and an ocean themed mural going up behind the art room. I am very excited to be a part of another great year at CIPLC. Welcome back!  Ms. Makowski

Third Grade Dream Catchers

Third graders got caught up in dream catchers. Students created dream catcher after dream catcher, experimenting with adding beads, feathers, and different colors. One dream catcher from each student is currently on display in the library. 

Pre-Kinder Rain sticks

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PICTURES Pre-Kinder artists learned about rain sticks in Music, and then made them in Art. They practiced painting patterns on paper, and then used paper mache on the painting and base to finish off their rain sticks.

Middle School Printmaking

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PICTURES Middle School Artists and soon all CIPLC Artists will be working in the Art room to meet CIPLC’s make a change (M.A.C.) goal. Students have been saving used paper all year, and are now going through the process of turning it into new, usable paper. The prints on display are printed on paper made by the artist.     Middle School Artists choose between lino-cut and scratch foam printing techniques, and then went on a hunt for inspiration. They found inspiration from nature, musicians and online sources. They turned their inspiration into an image, and printed it on their handmade paper. Third Grade Body Art Prints

Third Grade artists studied body art and patterns from around the world. Then they created a hand or foot, and used images from the art we studied or their own imagination to create their own printing plate. They used the plate to make an edition of prints.  Art Objectives:  I understand how history and culture have influenced art. I can relate works of art to a particular time period. I understand that culture and historical events influence art. Language Objectives: I can use the language of Art to explain my choices. Fifth Grade Print Making

Click here for more pictures Fifth Grade Artists worked with movement and gesture drawing to create a person preforming an action. Students then transferred their image to a foam plate and printed a series of three. Art Objectives:  I can  manipulate the elements of art and the principles of design to create art. I can  c reate art through purposeful, reflective observation. Kindergarten Bug Prints

Click here for more pictures!  Kindergarten Artists worked with scratch foam to create bug prints. They got a chance to use ink, brayers and bench hooks, just like the high school artists. Their creepy, crawly, prints are on display in the library right now! 

Second Grade Value Collages!

Fifth Grade Mosaics

Click here for close ups!  Fifth Grade Mosaics Fifth grade artists worked on color mixing and manipulating shapes and spaces during their painting unit. They started by  identifying important aspects of mosaics. Then they created  painted paper strips in a variety of colors. Finally they used  the paper to create an image out of shapes. Third Grade Heraldic Shields

Click Here for More Photos!  3 rd grade heraldic Shields Third grade artists continued their investigation of art in the late medieval and early renaissance by studying heraldry and heraldic symbols as applied to shields. Each student designed their own shield. Art Objectives: I understand how history and culture have influenced art. I can relate works of art to a particular time period.

Second Grade Perspective Painting

Click Here for more pictures! Second Grade tries out perspective! Second grade artists experimented with the concepts of perspective and space. They used one point perspective to make it look like some parts of their paintings were smaller and farther away. The use of space and perspective are very tricky skills, and they did a fantastic job! Art Objectives: ·      I recognize that all cultures produce Art. ·      I  can use observations and experiences to plan and create art. 

Kinder Mirror Folding

Kindergarten works on Mirror folding! Kindergarten Artists worked on using the mirroring technique to create fun, imaginative scenes. Can you find the house boat? A city from the future? Try your own at home by folding a piece of paper in half, drawing a shape on the fold and cutting it out! Art Objectives: ·      I can plan and create art. ·      I can experiment with materials and techniques to produce art.
