Third Grade Body Art Prints

Third Grade artists studied body art and patterns from around the world. Then they created a hand or foot, and used images from the art we studied or their own imagination to create their own printing plate. They used the plate to make an edition of prints. 


Art Objectives: 
I understand how history and culture have influenced art.
I can relate works of art to a particular time period.
I understand that culture and historical events influence art.

Language Objectives:
I can use the language of Art to explain my choices.

Click here for close ups! First Graders studied the cave paintings found in Lascaux, France, dating back nearly 17,300 years. These paintings are some of the best known surviving Paleolithic Art. The first graders took a virtual tour of the cave, and looked for clues about the artists. In the caves they saw bison, deer, birds, cats and people. The first graders focused on the following objectives: ·     I know all cultures make art. ·     I can use blending to make value. ·     I can use Art words to talk about my choices.

Student Led Studio Sessions

What an awesome day in the Art room at CIPLC! Student Led Conferences were taking place  all across campus, and in the Art room students, parents, grandparents, aunts, and cousins came together  to create. Students in grades 1-6 taught their families one of the skills they had learned or practiced this year. Our grade six artists had their families try out blind contour drawing. Grade five artists were on hand to teach printmaking using styrofoam plates. Recycled paper making was a huge hit with our fourth grade  families and artists. Third grade artists brought Amedeo Modigliani's unique portrait style to life. Paper weaving was the domain of our second grade artists and families, and they  went  all out with  color and pattern. Our first grade artists demonstrated their sewing skills to their families.  The turnout was excellent and the art room was bustling all morning! I can't wait to see how our community continues to come together next year!...
