Fifth Grade Mosaics

Click here for close ups!  Fifth Grade Mosaics Fifth grade artists worked on color mixing and manipulating shapes and spaces during their painting unit. They started by  identifying important aspects of mosaics. Then they created  painted paper strips in a variety of colors. Finally they used  the paper to create an image out of shapes. Art Objectives: ·          I can  manipulate the elements of art and the principles of design to create art. ·         I can  c reate art through purposeful, reflective observation. ·         I  u nderstand that culture and historical events influence art.  

Third Grade Heraldic Shields

Click Here for More Photos!  3 rd grade heraldic Shields Third grade artists continued their investigation of art in the late medieval and early renaissance by studying heraldry and heraldic symbols as applied to shields. Each student designed their own shield. Art Objectives: I understand how history and culture have influenced art. I can relate works of art to a particular time period.

Second Grade Perspective Painting

Click Here for more pictures! Second Grade tries out perspective! Second grade artists experimented with the concepts of perspective and space. They used one point perspective to make it look like some parts of their paintings were smaller and farther away. The use of space and perspective are very tricky skills, and they did a fantastic job! Art Objectives: ·      I recognize that all cultures produce Art. ·      I  can use observations and experiences to plan and create art. 

Kinder Mirror Folding

Kindergarten works on Mirror folding! Kindergarten Artists worked on using the mirroring technique to create fun, imaginative scenes. Can you find the house boat? A city from the future? Try your own at home by folding a piece of paper in half, drawing a shape on the fold and cutting it out! Art Objectives: ·      I can plan and create art. ·      I can experiment with materials and techniques to produce art.
