Middle School Dictionary Pages

Middle School Artists created visual representations of words through a mixed media dictionary page project. They chose a page in an old dictionary and illustrated one word on the page using marker, pen, water colors and water color pencils.  Click here for more pictures!

Kinder 100 Day Art!

Kindergarten artists created 100 tentacle jellyfish to celebrate the 100th day of school.

First Grade Sunset Baskets

First Grade artists created sunsets baskets during their weaving unit. They started by creating a multimedia drawing on the bottom of their basket. Then they worked with fractions to divide their basket base into thirds, and then a second set of thirds. They used a basic basket weave to create the woven sides of their baskets. 

High School Bas Relief Paintings

High School Artists worked with linoleum carving and paint to create low bas relief carvings enhanced by paint. Students worked from real objects to turn three dimensional forms into a ranch of depths in a 1 cm. deep linoleum block.    

High School Lino Cuts

Dani Luisania             Dana  High School artists studied Print maker and Poet Margaret Burroughs and then worked to embodied different elements of the the printmaking movement she took part in. Students worked with line, pattern, emphasis as well as rethinking positive and negative space. They also completed one print on burlap to experiment with printing on different surfaces.

Middle School Paper Casts

Middle school artists combined paper making and printmaking techniques to create these great paper casts. They carved linoleum plates, and then used recycled paper pulp to take a cast. The result were fantastic! Check them out in the library and administration office.

I apologize for the lack of recent updates - travel, the holidays, more travel and the current school situation have been busy, but I have lots to share so watch for tons of new posts! Thank you for your patience, Ms. Makowski Third Grade Collographs - marker based foam printmaking. Artists cut printing foam to make a printing plate, and then inked it with marked. They dampened the paper with a spray bottle and then took a pressed print. Marker printing is hard because the ink is not sticky like block printing ink. The fun shapes and bright patterns came out great!  Link below: Third Grade Collographs
