Third Grade Paints with Matisse

Image
Third graders learned about Henri Matisse, and created their own goldfish paintings. Each student created a foreground, a middle ground and a background. They then added details to their paintings. All of the colors you see are either primary colors, or colors that the students mixed themselves. Students did a fantastic job creating their own browns, greens, purples and oranges- as well as everything in between. Take a look at more work on Picasa! High School Lino Prints

Image
Luisania  Francisco  Luis While you are dropping by the school, stop in the elementary lab to check out the high school students linoleum cut prints. Students worked in a multi-step process to create some amazing prints. First they had to come up with an interesting, but simple two color design. After they created their design they transferred the first level onto their blocks and began to carve. They began by carving away all the spaces that they wanted to remain white (or the color of their chosen paper). After carving level one students were ready to print the first layer. Next they carved away all of the areas they wanted to remain their first color. Each student then printed the final, and most difficult layer. Carolina  The High school students work on this project has been incredible so make sure you check out all the work from Bees and Flowers, to an excellent Grim Reaper and cool letter-work. ...
